Shortned version of rpg names
I use Dream because it was my nickname in Rappelz. I had several characters that went by Dreamstryder, Dreamstalker, Dreamstriker, etc. So, I have kinda liked plain old Dream.

Great player for sure!
Too bad Liverpool didn't make it to th 8th of the C1 this year... they'll be missed.
My team is probably not going to make it either... but that was kind of expected... (i support Marseille)

Re: Where did my name come from?
Well my name comes from Calvin and Hobbes where Cakvin has these day dreams where he is spaceman Spiff. And Spiffy well I'm going to look that up right now on the urban dictionary..... Here we go. Adj.)1. Neat or interesting. (can also mean cool) 2. Of a good or pleasant nature.
Derivitive of the British word 'Spiffing'. A fun/cute way of expressing general satisfaction with a thing/situation/person.
Well there you go.

Re: Where did my name come from?
If that's a lame way to get a nickname, then I'll take one ticket for the lame boat as well!

Re: Where did my name come from?
My name is the result of a search for a unique log in, other than my real name (actually very unique, too) long ago when I first began signing up for things on the internet. Being a Tolkien fan (since 1967) I made a futile attempt at using a reference to his work but I really didn't want to be known as Galadriel-02548 or some such... then I remembered a character in a C. S. Lewis novel who doesn't have a name until the last chapter. That is how my online identity as "Tinidril" began. I have been able to use this name almost everywhere I need to create a log-in. I even bought the web address (tinidril.com)

Because I'm The General...duh
i was a history major who loved reading about military engagements and the top brass that made it happen.
now im in advertising. go figure.
I think next round I'm going to start a trend and not use "The" in front of my name.

Re: Where did my name come from?
um... I inherited susugam when my old account VBK was to be no more... So, that's how I got it. I'm not sure what a susugam is; it sounds like a type of solvent to me. I go by, "ash" cause my name is Ashley.

Re: Where did my name come from?
Simple:
Susugam... from the Susu people of Guinea, West Africa, and the greeeek word gamos: marriage.... so Susugam = married to a Susu... and there you go!

Osthato Chetowa was a character in Eragon: the "Mourning Sage"; but I think of it as the "Morning Sage"

Saladin: as of Saladin the Saracens Leader in the crusader times (died 1180's A.D.), always identified with him when I was a kid playing king and castles type games with my brothers,,, also becasue of my origins (Syrian)

Re: Where did my name come from?
My name was stuck on me by Poul Anderson, Fred Saberhagen and Isaac Asimov when we were playing computer-moderated STARWEB in the 1960s......they'd stab somebody in the back and then tell them that The Avatar did it. When we could play online you had to have an ID of no more than six characters (on The Source), so I just kept it.

Re: Where did my name come from?
My name comes from ancient Rome. Gladiators, trained in something called a Ludus. The man that owns and runs the Ludus, is called (by the slaves) Dominus. His wife, is called (by the slaves) Domina. A Domina is a woman of high standing in society, she is educated, beautiful and sexual. Another meaning is, that lovers sometimes call eachother Dominus or Domina in the bedroom

Syzygus means "faithful companion." It was used by the apostle Paul in a letter to the Philippians.

Re: Where did my name come from?
It's a point of contention...modern linguists argue that after parsing the stems of the word, Anubis could only mean "bunnies"...while archeologists and hieroglyphics experts are convinced that it must represent "puppies", arguing that modern day Arabic altered the meaning when it co-opted the word from Coptic following the Muslim conquest of Egypt. Known cognates: A-Noob-I-Is (Lat.) & A-New-*fail*Bus *implied (Eng.).
Actually, Anubis was the Ancient Egyptian deity of funeral rites and the afterlife. It was the moniker of a much better player than I, which I adopted...along w/ the account...when he escaped Travian for the real world. Oh wait...we're talking about round 3!?! I don't think "Twist of Fate" means anything. I'm pretty sure Ash just strung some random syllables together.

Re: Where did my name come from?
I came up with Twist of Fate for this round when I was listening to an old U2 song... "slight of hand and twist of fate, on a bed of nails she makes me wait..."
A twist of fate means something unexpected has occurred.
the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmSdTa9kaiQ -easily one of my favorites

Re: Where did my name come from?
I started reading Steven King in middle school starting w/ the dark towers series. They all circled around the gunslinger named Roland. I read up on the knight he was based on and found he was, believed to be, a knight of Charlemagne's. Last round I picked Charlemagne as this is a conquest game, but later I found the word for Char meant death in the dark tower series, and it was a convienient little abreeviation for Charlemagne.
